Sharing a ChatGPT Site with a client
ChatGPT Sites builds a full website from a prompt and hosts it, with your own domain and traffic totals, on Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise. For a client deliverable it stops short in four places: there’s no password, no expiry date, no record of which person opened it, and nowhere for the client to comment. QuickHost hosts the files ChatGPT or Codex built and adds those four.

At a glance
How does QuickHost compare to ChatGPT Sites?
ChatGPT Sites hosts full web apps on your own domain. QuickHost adds what a client deliverable needs: a password, an expiry date, who opened it, and comments.

Fair is fair
When is ChatGPT Sites the better choice?
If it’s a working web app with a database, or it should live on your own domain for the public, ChatGPT Sites is the better home. It’s included in Plus and Pro, it hosts full web apps with storage, and anyone can open a public Site without signing in. OpenAI says hosting is free until 31 December 2026 and metered above your plan’s allowance after that.
Choose ChatGPT Sites if
- It’s a working web app with data, sign-in or a database
- It should live on your own domain, for the public
- You already pay for ChatGPT Plus or Pro and need nothing more
Choose QuickHost if
- It’s going to a client who shouldn’t need a ChatGPT account
- It needs a password, a link per person or an expiry date
- You want to know which person opened it, and when
- It’s a PDF, spreadsheet or video, or the client should comment on it
The difference
Where does ChatGPT Sites fall short for client work?
ChatGPT Sites was built to publish websites and apps. A client deliverable needs four things it doesn’t have.
No password on the link
A Site is open to the public, to your workspace, or to people you invite by email, and each invited viewer has to sign in with a ChatGPT account. There’s no password you can give a client.
No expiry date
To end access you restrict the Site or delete it, and OpenAI says a deleted Site can’t be restored. Nothing switches a link off on a date you set.
Totals, not people
Analytics shows unique visitors and page views over time, and isn’t available for Sites owned by an Enterprise workspace. It can’t tell you whether the CFO opened the proposal.
Nowhere for the client to comment
OpenAI documents no comments on a Site, so feedback comes back by email and someone has to carry it into ChatGPT.
Pricing
How does ChatGPT Sites’s pricing compare?
Sites comes with ChatGPT Plus ($20 a month) and Pro (from $100), and with Business and Enterprise. OpenAI says hosting is free through 31 December 2026, and from 1 January 2027 it plans to bill usage above each plan’s allowance in credits, including 25 credits a month for each custom domain. QuickHost is a separate subscription, from $8 a month.

QuickHost prices are per workspace, not per person, and the same on every page of this site. Access is invite-only while billing is being finished; these are the plans it opens with.
Switching
How do I move from ChatGPT Sites to QuickHost?
Keep building in ChatGPT or Codex. Publish the version that goes to a client on QuickHost.
- 1If Codex built the site, the files are already in a folder on your machine. In ChatGPT, ask for the site’s files as a zip.
- 2Drag the folder or zip onto the QuickHost dashboard, run qh publish, or let Codex publish it through the QuickHost MCP server.
- 3Choose a password or a named link for each person, and an expiry date if it should stop working.
- 4When the client comments, ask your agent to read the thread over MCP, make the changes and republish to the same link.
Questions
What else do people ask about ChatGPT Sites and QuickHost?
The questions that come up when someone is deciding between the two, answered plainly.
Can I password-protect a ChatGPT Site?
Not in ChatGPT. A Site can be public, limited to your workspace, or shared with people you invite by email, who sign in with a ChatGPT account. QuickHost puts a password on any project, on every plan.
Can someone without a ChatGPT account open my Site?
Yes, if it’s public: OpenAI says anyone can open a public Site without signing in. A Site you share by invitation needs each viewer to sign in with the ChatGPT account you invited.
Can I see who viewed my ChatGPT Site?
Not per person. Sites shows total unique visitors and page views, and not for Sites owned by an Enterprise workspace. QuickHost gives each recipient their own link and shows who opened it and when.
Will ChatGPT Sites hosting stay free?
OpenAI says hosting is free through 31 December 2026. From 1 January 2027 it plans to bill usage above your plan’s allowance in credits, at rates its docs currently call proposed.
Can QuickHost host a site ChatGPT built with a database?
No. QuickHost serves static files only, so a site that needs a server or a database should stay on ChatGPT Sites. Pages, decks, reports and prototypes that run in the browser work on QuickHost.
